Privacy Policy
PicFrom copies your original photos and videos out of Apple Photos and iCloud into a plain, date-organized folder on a disk you own. It is built so that your photos and your information stay with you. This page explains, plainly, what happens to your data — the short version is: almost nothing.
The app
PicFrom has no account and no login. It does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. There is no analytics, no telemetry, and no tracking of any kind. Your photos and their metadata go straight from this Mac to the folder you choose, and nothing about you or your library is ever sent to us or to any third party.
To copy your photos, PicFrom asks macOS for permission to your photo library through Apple's own PhotoKit framework. It uses that access only to read your originals and write copies to your chosen folder. All of this happens locally on your Mac.
Apple Photos & iCloud
PicFrom never asks for your Apple ID or password and never signs in to iCloud. When an original lives only in iCloud, PicFrom downloads it through the iCloud session already signed in on your Mac — the same way Apple's Photos app does — using PhotoKit. Your relationship with iCloud is between you and Apple, governed by Apple's privacy policy.
The website
The picfrom.com website keeps a single anonymous tally of how many times the app has been downloaded, so we know how many people use PicFrom. That counter stores no cookies and no personal data, and there are no advertising or cross-site trackers. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, whose infrastructure may briefly log request data such as IP addresses for security and reliability; see Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
Data we store about you
None. Because PicFrom keeps nothing about you, there is nothing for us to retain, export, or delete on your behalf. Your archive lives on your own disk — you can move it or delete it at any time, entirely under your control.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, we will post the updated version here with a new date.
